As 0 Gauge modellers we appreciate the difficulty in finding suitable vehicles to park on a 1950s-1990s layout, veteran Dinky and Corgi toys are not always to scale and modern limited editions don’t feature many British vehicles. To this end we decided to take the plunge and find a lorry that could be shiny and new alongside steam locomotives or, subject to your weathering and wishes, lurking tired and dishevelled around sectorisation liveried diesels.
The kit represents an articulated tractor variant of the Seddon 16/4, a 26 ton GLW vehicle introduced in 1965. The Seddon 16/4 range was popular with smaller companies and was a competitor to the Ford D and Bedford TK types. As an articulated tractor the Seddon 16/4 typically worked with short single axle trailers, our 24’ trailer is an example of this type. The 16/4 remained in production into the early 1970s with some vehicles operating until the mid 1980s.
All parts (apart from cab glazing) are designed on 3D CAD and are 3D printed.
